Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from multiple positions (bench, standing, kneeling, sitting, prone); cleaning the rifle; and continued opportunities for skill development. Class sizes are 4 persons or less and move at a student-set pace. There is plenty of time for questions and hands-on practice. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. Upon successful completion of a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination and successful completion of the course, students also receive course completion certificate. Prerequisites for NRA Basic RifleAlthough there are no pre-requisites or age restrictions for the course, a general minimum age suggestion would be 12 years old. This may vary significantly depending upon the specific student's maturity level and attention span. Hunter Safety InformationIf you are planning on hunting in Colorado, were born after January 1, 1949, and have not completed a hunter education course, you will likely need to attend a Colorado Hunter Education Course. Although PerSec USA does not currently offer this course, you can visit the Colorado Division of Wildlife's course listings to find a course most convenient for you. |
